5 Day Mara River Crossings
Whether it’s your first African safari or a return to the wild, the Mara River Crossing is an essential, once-in-a-lifetime moment.
DAY 1: Tarangire National Park Game Drive
- Depart Arusha en route to Tarangire National Park, taking in the shifting scenery from urban landscapes to open plains
- Pass through traditional Maasai villages along the way & Spot the iconic Baobab trees as you approach the park entrance.
- Game drive along the Tarangire River, observing various wildlife.
- “Bush Lunch” in the open air.
- Spend the afternoon exploring the park, before heading to your lodge in the evening for rest and relaxation under the African sky.

DAY 2: Serengeti & Mara River
- After a hearty breakfast, depart from Ngare lodge and begin your journey north through the Serengeti.
- Enjoy a full-day game drive, following the migration’s route.
- Travel through the wildlife-rich Seronera Valley.
- Stop midday for a scenic bush picnic lunch beneath acacia trees, surrounded by open wilderness.
- Continue toward the Northern Serengeti, where the landscape becomes hillier and more dramatic.
- By late afternoon, arrive at the Mara River, famous for its crocodile-infested crossings
- In the evening, continue your journey with a transfer to camp.

DAY 3: Into the Untamed North – Tracking the Great Migration
- Start your day with a sunrise breakfast at the lodge, surrounded by views of the Serengeti plains.
- Embark on a full-day game drive along the Mara River, a key migration route between July -October.
- Spot an array of wildlife.
- Explore the wooded savannahs, grassy plains, and hidden watering holes of the Northern Serengeti.
- Enjoy a picnic lunch under a shaded acacia, with panoramic views and roaming wildlife nearby
- Return to camp in the late afternoon, soaking in golden hour.
- Unwind with a refreshing drink and recount the day’s sightings by the fire or over dinner at your lodge.

DAY 4: Serengeti to Ngorongoro
- Morning game drive in Serengeti as you exit the park, spotting wildlife along the way.
- Scenic drive through Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with a stop for an optional picnic lunch.
- Photo stop at the crater rim for breathtaking views before descending towards Karatu.
- Arrival at Marera Valley Lodge, check-in, relax, and enjoy dinner in the highland setting.

DAY 5: Explore Ngorongoro Crater
- Breakfast at the hotel & checkout

- Descend into the crater for a game drive.
- Pause for a picnic lunch on the crater floor, surrounded by breathtaking scenery.
- In the evening, continue your journey with a transfer to the lodge.
